Kwatha(Decoction) is an important dosage form that has a higher therapeutic value as it is the basis of most of the secondary dosage forms. Processing cost affects its market cost. The consistency of the drug is taken into account for the proportion of water. Wet Guduchi(Tinospora cordifolia ) is considered a Mrudu(Soft consistency) drug in its fresh form and needs to be used in its fresh form as per the principles of Bhaishjya Kalpana. Most of the time, this principle is not taken into account and water was added as per need. Hence the study was planned to evaluate the difference with the addition of different proportions of water. Guduchi Kwatha were prepared by using three different proportion of water i.e. 16 parts,8 parts and 4 part,s and reduced up to 1/8th ,1/4th and 1/4th respectively. Temperature range were not exceed above 1000 C. Organoleptic and physicochemical characteristics such as pH value, specific gravity, Refractive index, and Total solid content were noted. Guduchi Kwatha which used 4 parts of water found to be more appropriate in terms of some important parameters such as specific gravity and total solid content as compared to other Kwatha which used more water. As the fuel consumption and time required were less in four parts used Kwatha and it is considered best for the Mrudu dravya in the case of Guduchi Kwatha. Further qualitative analysis should be done to validate the procedure so that processing costs can be limited by saving fuel and time.
