The Ayurvedic management of garbhashaya granthi with special reference to uterine fibroid-case report

Abstract

Introduction:


A benign tumor of the uterus arising from the smooth muscle cells of the myometrium is known as Uterine Fibroids resulting in irregular menses, menorrhagia, Infertility. In Ayurveda, it is described as Garbhashaygata granthi.


Main Clinical Finding:


A Female Age 34 came presenting with complaints of Menorrhagia, Secondary Infertility with USG report suggested presence of Subserosal Fibroid of size 8.5mm x 8.2mm visited Striroga OPD.


Diagnosis:


Patient was diagnosed with Garbhashaygata Granthi (Uterine Fibroid)


Interventions:


Case was successfully treated with 3 consecutive cycles of Yogbasti with Sahchar taila and Dashmoola kwath.


Outcome:


The symptoms were resolved completely and Usg report further confirmed absence of fibroids.


Conclusion:


It can be concluded that Ayurveda provides a very cost effective and promising result without any surgical interventions.
